Handing Over of Shea-Butter Processing Centres in Basyonde and Woriyanga

The Tempane District Assembly, in collaboration with the Community Development Alliance (CDA-Ghana), witnessed the official handing over of newly constructed shea-butter processing centres to women groups in the communities of Basyonde and Woriyanga.
The event brought together traditional authorities, women beneficiaries, representatives from UNDP, officials from CDA-Ghana, and the District Chief Executive for Tempane, Hon. Mbilla Joseph Ayaaba. The project was funded through the generous support of the People of Japan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The shea-butter processing centres are expected to significantly improve the processing and value addition of shea nuts in the beneficiary communities. This initiative aims to enhance productivity, improve product quality, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women who depend on shea processing as a major source of income.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Mbilla Joseph Ayaaba expressed appreciation to the People of Japan, UNDP, and CDA-Ghana for their support in promoting local economic development and empowering women in the district. He encouraged the beneficiary groups to make good use of the facilities to improve their livelihoods and support the growth of the local economy.
Traditional leaders also commended the initiative and assured their continued support to ensure the sustainability of the project.
The establishment of the shea-butter processing centres forms part of ongoing efforts by development partners and the District Assembly to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and promote community development in the Tempane District.
