SOD-CUTTING AND HANDING OVER CEREMONY HELD FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 24-HOUR ECONOMY MARKET AT WORIYANGA


The Woriyanga community witnessed a significant milestone with the official sod-cutting and handing over ceremony for the construction of the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market project. The event brought together government officials, traditional authorities, and members of the community in a show of commitment towards local economic growth and development.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Hon. Regional Minister, the Hon. Member of Parliament, and the Hon. District Chief Executive, together with chiefs, opinion leaders, assembly members, heads of departments, and residents from Woriyanga and surrounding communities.
In his remarks, the Hon. Regional Minister emphasized Government’s commitment to improving local economies through strategic infrastructure development under the 24-hour economy agenda. He noted that the market project would create employment opportunities, boost trade activities, and improve livelihoods within the district and beyond.
The Hon. Member of Parliament also commended the initiative and assured the people of continued support towards developmental projects that would positively impact the lives of constituents. He encouraged community members to support and protect the project to ensure its successful completion.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon. District Chief Executive expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their collective efforts in making the project a reality. He indicated that the market, when completed, would serve as a modern trading hub to enhance commercial activities, improve revenue generation, and promote economic transformation within the district.
Traditional authorities present at the ceremony welcomed the project and expressed gratitude to Government and the District Assembly for bringing development closer to the people. Community members also expressed excitement and optimism about the opportunities the market would provide for traders, farmers, and the youth.
The ceremony ended with the official sod-cutting and handing over of the project site to the contractor for commencement of work. The event marked another important step in the district’s development agenda aimed at promoting inclusive growth and sustainable economic development.
