The Tempane District Assembly has supported 71 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with various livelihood items aimed at improving their economic empowerment, enhancing their livelihoods and promoting their active participation in the development of the District.
The items were distributed on Friday, 4th September 2026, and included refrigerators, motorcycles, livestock and cash support. The intervention is intended to enable beneficiaries to establish or expand income-generating activities and improve their economic independence and household well-being.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) encouraged them to take good care of the items provided and make good and productive use of the support. He urged beneficiaries to see the items as valuable investments and use them responsibly to generate sustainable income and improve their living conditions.
The DCE further entreated the beneficiaries to maintain and properly manage the items to ensure that the purpose for which the support was provided is achieved. He expressed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and creating opportunities that promote inclusive development across the District.
The District Coordinating Director (DCD), Heads of Departments and other officials of the District Assembly were present at the ceremony and joined in encouraging the beneficiaries to make the best use of the assistance provided.
The distribution forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to promote the socio-economic inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and ensure that they have access to opportunities that can improve their livelihoods. The Assembly called on all beneficiaries to use the support productively and responsibly for the benefit of themselves, their families and the wider community.
